I am at it again naming my Rugby team of the decade. It was almost unanimous the CAR 2007 championship are the team of the decade.

Honourable mention goes to the 2002 Rugby Cranes squad captained by Herbert Wafula that won the CAR 2nd tier cup and won a famous victory –– a first –– on Kenyan soil against the hosts.

The Rugby Cranes team that won the Elgon Cup in 2006 and Kobs with their incredible trophy haul this decade including six league titles and three Uganda Cups also deserve mention.

Below is the 2007 CAR Africa Champions team and a few comments on what happened, down under in Madagascar, in 2007.

2007 CAR champions team of the decade
1. Fred Mudoola ––Dislocated a shoulder in that epic semi final against Kenya and was replaced by Ronald Adigasi
2. Alexander Mubiru –– In the final this fiery mobile hooker fed up with the eye gouging from the Malagasy players, retaliated but found himself in the sin bin.Missed his graduation ceremony to play for his country
3. Kenneth Mutabaruka –– Named player of the Madagascar tour after he put in a solid 160 minutes as he had no replacement.
4. Moses Soita –– Destroyed all opponents at the line outs.

6. Robert ‘Soggy’ Seguya –– Played like a man possessed even deputised at 8th man and hooker. Played every minute of that tour.
7.Mathias Ochwo –– Was tackled by team mate John Musoke who anticipated his retaliation to a small Malagasy player who stamped on his head.
8. Adrian Bukenya (Captain) –– Broke his ankle in the semi final against Kenya and handed over the Captain’s arm band to his deputy Tim Mudoola
9. Anthony Kinene –– His ‘game’ off the pitch was weakened by the Anglo-Francophone language divide.
10. Edmond ‘Edu’ Tumusiime –– Besides his usual brilliance he dished out a David on Golitah return to send a tackle on Kenya’s 6ft 4inch 110 Kg Caucasian lock Mike Aung. The ball was lost in contact, ’ouch’.

12. Tonny ‘Stone’ Luggya –– Another who missed his graduation ceremony to play for his country.
13. Timothy Mudoola (Vice captain) -Acquitted himself well as a leader when called upon to take on the captaincy
14. Allan Musoke –– Did what he does best-score tries.He punished Kenya and Madagascar.
