Dear Dr,
I am 29 with two children. My wife tested positive for HIV and I was negative. So I got another woman.

However, she also tested positive eight months ago. Since then, I have been doing comprehensive HIV tests at Mulago and I am negative.

I feel I should stay away from every woman! I still love my two young beautiful ladies.

Dear Thomas,
It is good for your family that you are HIV negative and you should stay so.
We do not advise you to abandon your wives. We have learnt many ways for people who are HIV negative to live with those who are HIV positive. Ask a doctor or counsellor about it.

It includes using condoms, staying healthy with no STDs, not being promiscuous with others. Your wives need to be looked after, so that they do not fall sick. They should get regular checks, use medicines when needed and eat a well balanced diet.

If you decide to have more children, talk to a doctor about how this can be done with little risk to you.

You as the negative partner should stay negative for the good health of your family. But, this does not mean that you should abandon them.
