BOBBY Williamson’s agent Cofie Azumah has dispelled speculation linking the Scottish coach to the vacant Tanzanian job despite various reports in Dar es Salaam indicating contacts have been made.

Reports in Tanzania suggest that their football federation has earmarked Williamson to replace Marcio Maximo when his contract runs out in July.

However, speaking to The New Vision on phone yesterday from England, Azumah stated: “I have seen reports in the media linking Williamson with moves to particular clubs in the United Kingdom and the Tanzanian team. I just want to put the record straight. These are not accurate. My client is 100 percent committed to the Cranes job.”

Williamson’s current contract expires in June this year and details of his pay and contract negotiations could not be readily got from soccer governing body FUFA.

Williamson, who has only lost once –– a 2-1 defeat in a friendly against Ghana –– since taking over in October 2008, has redeemed Uganda’s footballing pride after claiming two CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup titles and improving her away record.

Williamson’s uncertain future with the Cranes brings back memories of the circumstances under which Laszlo Csaba left the national team in July 2008.

Csaba secretly applied for the Indomitable Lions’ job and was exposed when the Cameroon officials mentioned the list of coaches that had shown interest.

He also denied reports linking him to the vacant Hearts FC seat but flew out of the country a day later and was pictured touring the training facilities in Edinburgh.

He admitted he was wooed by $200,000 (sh400m)-a-year-salary, ––almost five times his Cranes wages at the time. Tanzania’s Marcio Maximo earns $15,000 (sh30m) a month.
