THERE was no better way to say farewell to holidaymakers than Rabadaba and Bobi Wine’s ‘bye-bye holidaymakers’ bash at KK Beach Resort, Ggaba on Saturday.

The party had its highs and lows though, but the bottom line was; holidaymakers had fun to its fullest from 9:00am when gates were opened, up to 11:30pm after the long awaited Rabadaba finished performing.

One would think the show had age specifications because the audience was dominated by 95% adolescents.

Dembe FM’s Lwasama who was the emcee, sent the revellers into rib-breaking laughter when he confidently said: “My name is Lwasama from Dembe FM, if you don’t know me, go and consult the Guinness Book of Records.”

If you want to know why Uganda was ranked the number one drinking nation in 2005, you should have been at KK Beach. By 10:00pm, all bars were drained of beer but this did not stop the young revellers from drinking. They kept on asking for whatever bitter drink their eyes came across.

When Bobi Wine stepped on stage to perform at 10:30pm, he got the attention of everyone especially those who were swimming. Even security failed to control revellers from jamming the stage.

Bobi was besieged by over 40 excited fans. This apparently infuriated the singer who stopped midway through his performance and left, leaving many of his fans disappointed.

Matters were not helped by the fact that the singers who came on next, Mwamuli Katumba and Chris Wajjadi, were unpopular to the crowd. Impatient, the crowd shouted tubakooye (we are fed up of you) and shortly started throwing bottles onto the stage.

This prompted the DJ to halt Katumba’s second song midway and requested him to leave. The latter did not take it lightly and wanted to fight with one of the emcees.

But soon enough, Luga Ragga star, Rabadaba leapt on the stage. All manner of pandemonium was let loose. The young revellers let off deafening screams of excitement, clearly indicating he was the one they had been waiting for. And he did not disappoint.

He worked the crowd and performed all his new and old songs. Bwekiri especially drove them crazy. About 30 minutes later, when the show ended, no one remembered the disappointment.
