THE Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) secretary Enock Barumba has come out to dare his chairman Dr. Kato Sebbaale, when the cricket fraternity goes to polls in a fortnight’s time, writes Norman Katende

The elections are due February 27 at Lugogo.

The Nile club delegate yesterday confirmed that he will go for the top association seat, bringing to light the division in the association executive.

“Yes, I am going to vie for that post but I can not comment further,” confirmed Barumba on phone.

Barumba has accused the treasurer Godfrey Zaribwende of withdrawing money from the association account for personal use. But Sebbaale, yet to confirm whether he will go for a third term, was on hand to defend Zaribwende.

There is a sharp wedge in the executive with Barumba and organising secretary Davis Turinawe on one side, while Sebbaale and Zaribwende are on the other.

There are reports that for the sake of unity, the two parties want vice chairman Mukesh Shukla to take over the chair. However Shukla said he is not aware of any development.

“No one has approached me,” said Shukla when contacted.
