THE Uganda Exports Promotion Board (UEPB) has asked Uganda traders going to exhibit in Southern Sudan to avoid dishonest business practices.

“They are not asking for goods beyond Uganda’s standards,” said Odoi Othieno, UEPB’s senior trade promotions officer, at a briefing of the exhibitors last week. UEPB and the trade ministry are taking a contingent of Ugandan traders to a fair in Juba in which only Ugandan businesses will showcase their products.

The first Uganda solo trade exhibition will run from today to Sunday at the Nyakuron Cultural Centre in Juba.

The theme of the fair is “Trade for mutual co-operation.”

There are reports that local traders sometimes export products below the indicated weights.
