FIFTY-TWO motorcycles and 11 vehicles were impounded by Arua Police on Wednesday in an operation to crack down on traffic offenders.

The West Nile regional Traffic Police Officer, Donasiano Opwonya, said the operation targeted motorists who lacked driving permits or insurance, vehicles in dangerous conditions and motorcyclists who lacked helmets.

Six vehicles and 16 motorcycles, which were not road-worthy were also impounded and de-registered by the Police retaining their number plates.
“We want to minimise accidents that have plagued major roads in the region,” said Opwonya.

He appealed to motorists to get permits, since Face Technology, the driving license issuing agency, hasa branch in Arua.
