How can I prevent the infections on my body?

Feb 21, 2010

YOU definitely seem anxious about your situation. I think this is because you are worried that it could be a sign of a more serious problem.

Ask the doctor with Dr. Gloria Ndagire

Dear Doctor,
Since July last year, I started developing swollen and painful bruise-like infections on my legs. They are usually hard and so painful but disappear after about two weeks. Others reappear and the healed ones leave black marks. What could this be and how can I prevent them?

Dear Anatolia,
YOU definitely seem anxious about your situation. I think this is because you are worried that it could be a sign of a more serious problem.

Skin conditions are best diagnosed and treated if a doctor has the chance to examine them. This is because some skin diseases look similar but may require different treatment.

However, since the the condition has recurred for sometime, it would be wise for you to see a doctor immediately. In some cases, skin conditions may be a manifestation of a more serious systemic disease.

The doctor will recommend other tests to rule out such illnesses. You should not get anxious because most of these conditions are treatable.
