MICHO Sredojevic feels Uganda’s Orange CAF Champions League representatives URA FC are good enough to make progress in the continent’s prestigious club competition.

The former SC Villa coach sounded impressed with the tax collectors after watching the Uganda champions hold his Ethiopian outfit St George to a goalless draw on Sunday.

“URA is a good team. They are competitive enough and have the experience to succeed in the tournament,” Sredojevic stated yesterday.

URA claimed a 1-0 win over Zambia champions Zanaco in the first leg and all that they need to progress is a win in Lusaka or secure any draw to guarantee qualification to the first round.

Micho believes that it is a ‘mission possible’ if the tax collectors can also improve their creativity in the final third of the pitch.

“They (URA) have a wonderful captain (Manko) Kaweesa but he needs extra support from the wide players,” he added.

URA will engage Ethiopia’s Confederations Cup envoys Banks FC today and travel to Zambia on Wednesday.
Zanaco are struggling for form and a lack of confidence.

A week after being condemned to a 1-0 defeat in Kampala, Zanaco were bundled out of Zambia’s Charity Shield tournament on Sunday.

Zesco took advantage of one of Zanaco’s several defensive errors to score the all-important goal.

During a post-match interview, coach Wedson Nyirenda pointed that the defeat had been a timely wake-up call ahead of their return leg fixture against URA.

“This is a good lesson to us. We have seen our weakness and we have to work on that before our game this weekend,” Nyirenda said.
“We played well but the finishing was poor. We need to work on that.”
MEANWHILE Willy Kavuma scored a first half goal as KCC Football Club narrowed their gap with Uganda Super League table leaders Express SC (41 points) to four points after an away win over Hoima yesterday, reports Swalley Kenyi.

Playing with assistant coach Richard Amatre in charge after head coach Sam Ssimbwa’s suspension, the 2007 champions opted to play a defensive game and kept their narrow lead to the last whistle.

KCC’s next and Ssimbwa’s second match suspension is against troubled Boroboro at Nakivubo on Friday.
