Seya, a good leader accepts defeat

EDITOR—I congratulate Norbert Mao for his election as the Democratic Party (DP) president. However, I was surprised with Kampala Mayor Al-Hajj Nasser Ntege Sebaggala’s attitude towards Mao’s victory.

EDITOR—I congratulate Norbert Mao for his election as the Democratic Party (DP) president. However, I was surprised with Kampala Mayor Al-Hajj Nasser Ntege Sebaggala’s attitude towards Mao’s victory.

I know taking over the DP presidency meant a lot to him, but I do not think running away from the party and vowing to start his own is a reaction anyone would expect from a leader of his status.

This shows he has no attributes of a good leader. Quitting is not the language a serious leader would be expected to use. Last year, I did not see Mugisha Muntu run away from FDC when he lost to Col. Kizza Besigye.

Probably Sebaggala would have formed his own city if he had lost his mayoral seat. Maybe this justifies the mess in Kampala city. It also shows that Sebaggala’s intentions in DP are not for the party, but himself. I challenge him to justify his response if it is not for selfish reasons.
