SINGER Ragga Dee’s much hyped unplugged music in Silk Lounge last Thursday was dominated by comedy. The show kicked off at 9:00pm with emcee Gibriz mimicking girls who like taking offers from lustful men and end up in their traps.

American-based Ugandan singer Shamiir took over and performed two songs. After a short interlude of instrumentals by UB5 Band, the emcee of the night, Percy, announced that the next musician on stage was Ragga Dee and all the eyes turned to the direction of the entrance only to see two clowns.

They did their thing for while to the audience’s excitement until Ragga Dee joined them amid wild cheers. He started off with Munomunomove, which he followed with Digida, Oyagala Cash, Bamusakata and Mukwano Jangu.

Ragga Dee performed most of his hit songs from the 18 albums he has released over the years, replacing many lines in there with lines that are relevant to the socio-economic situation today.

Other songs that excited the audience included Mpeta, Mbawe, Owakaze Ke and Nugu. During short breaks, his former dancers Jimmy and Gibriz, who have since turned into comedians, spiced up the occasion.

Towards the end of the show, Ragga Dee invited the self-styled music doctor, Jose Chameleone to the stage. As soon as Chameleone held the microphone, fans went haywire, screaming his name. He did Basiima Ogenze and two other songs.

Even as fans exited the venue, Ragga Dee continued singing.
