Seya is number one stand up act

Sebaggala should concede defeat and rally behind Mao. The mayor, known for his good mobilisation skills, can still serve his party in other capacities rather than staging another comedy.

He should realise that the comedy he used to shoot to prominence can no longer work. He should give up politics and settle for business, bearing in mind the fact that he has failed to bring order to Kampala. The city is gaping with potholes and garbage everywhere.

Ugandans, known for their generosity, are willing to forgive the mighty Seya for having duped them that he was a pro-poor leader, who would champion programmes geared towards lifting them out of poverty. We shall still remember his famous dustbins on Entebbe Road that bore his portrait and the mini manifesto that was all kiwani (fake).

EDITOR—I was amazed by Kampala mayor Al-hajj Nasser Ntege Sebaggala’s recent statements in the media that the crime he committed of credit card theft and forgery was minor because it was a misdemeanour.

I am a fan of Sebaggala and I think he can make very good presidential material, especially now that he is forming his own party, but he should not water down his crime.

Credit card theft and forgery is a felony in the US and once you are convicted, like Sebaggala was, you remain a felon.

A crime is a crime and once committed, cannot be re-baptised.
