MOSES Kipsiro has won himself $13,000 (sh26m) for finishing sixth in the World Best 10km road run in San Juan, Puerto Rico Sunday evening.

Kipsiro, who finished fourth in last year’s event, was the only non Kenyan among the top ten finishers in a race that had 4869 competitors.

On the local scene, Anthony Okiror became the first victim of the new IAAF false start rule in the national over distance track and field season opener at Kyambogo on Sunday.

The UPDF athlete was disqualified straight away after beating the gun in the 150m heats.

After the debacle, Okiror won the 300m in 34.8 minutes in a meet dominated by Ndejje University, who bagged victory in seven of the nine events.

The previous rule allowed for a yellow card as caution for the first offender plus the rest of the competitors in a particular race and the second offender a red card. The next event on the local calendar will be track and field meet next month.
