ALL local golf clubs in will this weekend hold tournaments in support of landslide victims in Bududa. Uganda Golf Union (UGU) secretary Johnson Omollo said that proceeds from registration fees and other activities will be handed over next week.

“We appeal to golfers in the country to support this humanitarian cause. The clubs will remit whatever they have collected then we shall hand over. We have to stand by the people of Bududa. Let golfers donate clothes and any items that can be of help to people displaced by the natural disaster” Omollo appealed.

Lugazi, Jinja, Tororo, Arua, Mbarara, Fort portal, Kabale, Kinyara, Kampala and Entebbe golf clubs have all been informed.

UGU hope to start receiving the proceeds by Sunday.
“As golfers that will be our humble contribution to the people of Bududa,” Omollo said.

Last week, a landslide left hundreds dead and thousands displaced in Bududa.

Meanwhile, The New Vision won the Women’s Day golf on Monday as competitors raised sh20m for golfer Agatha Doii, to have an operation for an artificial limb.

The Uganda Golf Club member was involved in an accident in 2004 losing one of her legs. A total of sh14m was raised by the golfers and businessman Amos Nzeyi pledged sh6m.
