Address alcoholism, dress code to restore Makerere glory

Although Makerere University is viewed as an icon of academics in East Africa, the glory it had in 1970s-80s keeps diminishing.

Although Makerere University is viewed as an icon of academics in East Africa, the glory it had in 1970s-80s keeps diminishing.

This is partly because of the vices that have been listed in the university’s human resource manual.

The policy is good because alcoholism, absenteeism and other moral vices, do not contribute anything good to the stakeholders in this great institution.

Above all, it is a violation of Makerere’s code of conduct.

I also suggest that a students’ manual be designed with particular focus on dress code and alcoholism because when I was at Makerere University, we used to be inconvenienced by drunk classmates.

If the above issues are addressed, the glory of Makerere University will be restored.
