Big things for Chameleone
Last week we reported that singer Dr. Hilderman had his eyes fixed on Presidential Private Secretary Amelia Kyambadde’s sh60m in a deal that would have him use his song Amelia to bolster her political bid for the Mawokota North MP seat. We have since heard that singer Jose Chameleone has struck a similar deal worth sh50m with NRM bigwigs to use his Basiima Ogenze song for the NRM’s presidential campaign. We hear Chameleone already back in the studio re-doing the song in Runyankole. Sources say the plan is to have him perform the song at the president’s rallies. Meanwhile, the singer is tipped to perform at the World Cup opening ceremony in a deal rumoured to be worth $70,000 (sh140m).

Rabadaba hits back at DJ Michael
Last week we reported that DJ Michael was not happy with Rabadaba proclaiming himself the Dancehall king. Apparently, this did not go down well with the Bwekiri singer who hit back at DJ Michael by calling him a ‘Lingala King’ in a conversation with Goodlyfe singer Mowzey Radio. “Compare my music to his; who’s the true Dancehall king? How can you compare his kwata-kwata, Lido-lido and Kiri kitya to my Lunyiriri or Mukyamu?” asked a visibly irked Rabadaba. Radio, however, calmed him down saying it was a flimsy issue not worth his time.

Julianna releases new album
2008 PAM Awards artiste of the year Julianna Kanyomozi has finally broken her long silence by releasing her long-awaited album. Julianna sampled some of her new songs last Sunday at Bukedde FM’s ‘Embuutu’ show at Namboole Stadium and yes, we thought the music was worth the wait. Most of the songs on her new album are love songs and others are about real life expriences. However, with new kids on the block, Cindy and Grace Nakimera, Juliana has a lot more than just Iryn Namubiru to worry about.

Anitah joins DJ Michael
Former Dream Galz singer Anitah has joined DJ Michael’s Dancehall Crew and they are in studio doing a single as we write this. Other members of the defunct Dream Galz are already pursuing relatively successful solo careers. Anitah was seen with DJ Michael at Cherrie’s Jam Session recently, where she performed. Michael says he signed her because his Crew was ‘missing a female artiste with potential.”
