NTUNGAMO district Woman MP, Beatrice Rwakimari, has warned nurses and midwives who mistreat pregnant mothers that they risk losing their jobs.
Rwakimari said she had received complaints that pregnant women were beaten in the labour wards. The MP was meeting health workers and local leaders at the town council hall last week, on a safe motherhood sensitisation drive in the district.
She advised pregnant mothers to go for antenatal care at least four times before delivering and for postnatal care after giving birth. She urged men to accompany their wives to health centres.
