Heathens' Oluoch on course for MVP honours

RUGBY Cranes and G4S Pirates captain Moses Soita, Heathens stars Scot Oluoch and Benon Kiiza are on the list of nominees for the 2009 MVP award.

The top in this and other categories will be announced at the annual Uganda Rugby Union (URU) Gala due at the Kabira country club today. Soita captained his club to runners up position in the national league and to the semi-finals of the Uganda Cup.

He also played a key role as Rugby Cranes came close to edging Kenya in the Elgon Cup. Oluoch who won the uganda telecom –– USPA 2009 rugby player of the year Award and teammate Benon Kiiza played a pivotal role in MTN Heathens’ five trophy sweep.

In the coaching category, Entebbe Mongers and Rugby Cranes coach HamOnsando are on the short list along with their Heathens rival Peter Magona. Hima Impis tactician Brian Power formerly with Heathens is also in contention.

The other nominees include Benon Kiiza, Michael Wokorach and Jude Keremundu from Heathens named for the upcoming player’s award while Beatrice Atim and Mary Choita are in the women’s category. Christine Kizito, Brenda Kayiyi and Helen Buteme will battle for the women MVP award.
