GOLF - Solomon Kego was the gross winner with 71 at the MTN March Mug of Mugs as the first quarter of the monthly tournament ended. In form Brian Mwesigwa maintained his streak scoring 73 gross to finish runner-up and keep in contention for the overall title come November. Kinny Nayer and Harriet Kitaka with 215 and 208 nett were the quarterly men and women winners respectively.

Bugongi ousts McAllister

SOCCER - Bushenyi’s football power house Bishop McAllister Kyogyera will not be part of this year’s Copa Coca Cola championships due next month at St. Henry’s Kitovu. The giants’ five year reign in the district football championships came to an end over the weekend when they lost 5-4 in a penalty shoot out to lowly Bugongi SS in a tense final after a 1-all draw in normal time at St. Kagwa High grounds. McAllister was at the 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009 finals.

Bugiri heads sack secretary

GAMES - Bugiri district secondary school head teachers association has sacked the secretary Bugiri post primary football association for incompetence. Gilbert Situma was dismissed for allegedly failing to convene meetings concerning affairs of football for over a year.
But Situma said the association was acting illegally.
