The Kenyan team to the just concluded World Cross Country Championships in Poland has been rewarded by President Mwai Kibaki for the brilliant display.
The Kenyan leader presented the medal winners with cash awards totalling Ksh2.75m (sh68.75m).
Gold medallists received a total of Ksh550,000, silver ksh350,000m and bronze sh200,000 from the government. The team won eight gold medals, three silver and two bronze.
Uganda’s team that included bronze medal winner Moses Kipsiro got sh3m from the National Council of Sports.
