MIKE Sserumaga and Henry Kisekka’s second half goals gave URA FC a 2-0 away win over Arua Central in the Uganda Super League at Arua Hill ground yesterday.

Sserumaga pounced on a loose ball and powered in a shot 40 yards out in the 68th minute.

In the 85th minute Cranes striker Kisekka beat the entire Arua defence to place the ball past goalkeeper Rasasi Indikitia into the far post for the second goal that deflated the home side.

Kisekka’s goal appeared to resurrect Arua’s urge to win as they pressed hard for a goal thereafter but could not penetrate the URA rear fortress.

The gap left by Arua’s teenage players Ali Gift and Mohammed Gadafi, currently with the national U-17 team, was evident as no one made any attempt to threaten the URA goal.

The win is URA’s first in three second round matches after goalless draws with Simba and CRO.

It ensured the taxmen moved to third place on the table level on 40 points with second placed Bunamwaya but with an inferior goal difference.

They are two points behind leaders Express FC, who travel to Kinyara on Thursday.

“I’m very happy we played according to plan. We got our chances and used them. My team is getting so competitive. I wish we go on like this,” URA stand-in coach Alex Isabirye said after the win.

His Arua counterpart Faizal Abdallah blamed the loss on poor goalkeeping but remained optimistic.

“We shall claw back. All we need is to keep focus and win the remaining matches,” Abdallah said.
