President Yoweri Museveni has hailed the late Hajji Musa Matovu, a renowned businessman in Mbarara, as his best friend, who helped him in many things without expecting any return.

“Musa has been trustworthy,” he said.

This was contained in the President’s condolence message delivered by Moses Kigongo, the vice-chairperson of National Resistance Movement (NRM), at Matovu’s burial on Wednesday.

Matovu, 59, died of low blood pressure on Monday at Mbarara Hospital. He is survived by three wives and 14 children.

Museveni described him as a man who helped many Ugandans regardless of their religion.

He said Matovu has been a pillar of the NRM, who engaged in local investments, creating employment opportunities for Ugandans.

Matovu was buried at Nyamitanga Mosque graveyard in Mbarara Municipality.
Museveni asked Matovu’s family to remain united and maintain their father’s spirit.

Matovu was one of the directors of Uganda Terminal Bus Service Association, co-owned Swift Buses with his long-time friend, Leo Beyagira.

He was also one of the directors of Sentah College in Mbarara, tendered the Kashari Total Petrol Station and owned many businesses in Mbarara and Kampala.
