NATIONAL swimmers led by Conrad Gaira will be battling to attract the attention of selectors at the first time trials due at the International School of Uganda, Lubowa this weekend.
Uganda Swimming Federation secretary Peter Mugisha, said the top performers will be considered for the forthcoming international competitions.
The events include the Commonwealth Games, World Youth Games, the Africa senior championships and the tenth FINA world competition.
Gaira is out to make a mark in the 50m butterfly, one of his favourite events.
The Kampala swimmer set a record in the same event at the Excell Independence swimming championship in 2007.
Mugisha is optimistic the event will produce impressive times.
The official added that Gaira and his rivals are looking at setting new times in their respective events ahead of the international competitions.
