I recently had protected sex, but found blood mixed with semen in the condom. My testicles are paining and I have lost interest in sex. What could be the problem?
Ben

Dear Ben,
BLOOD in semen may be a sign of a number of conditions that may involve any part of the male urogenital system, which includes the kidneys, ureters, prostate, testicles and urethra.

One of the common causes is infections, which may involve the bladder, kidneys, urethra or any part of the urogenital system.

Considering the fact that you have pain in your testicles, it is possible that you may have an infection involving the epididymis. This is commonly a bacterial infection that can be treated with antibiotics.

However, there are also a number of other possible causes, including sexually-transmitted infections such as chlamydia.

Testicular pain may, however, be a sign of other more complicated conditions such as twisting of the epididymis. Bloody semen may also indicate an obstruction in the urine pathway.

It would be advisable for you to see a doctor for proper evaluation and treatment as soon as possible to avoid complications.

The anxiety you have at the moment may also affect your sex drive. Get medical attention as soon as you can.
