CECAFA invites Nigeria league champs

NIGERIAN champions Heartland FC, formerly Iwuanyanwu, has been invited to take part the CECAFA Club Championship due May 15-29 in Rwanda.

Group C: Atraco, Sofapaka, URA, Simba
NIGERIAN champions Heartland FC, formerly Iwuanyanwu, has been invited to take part the CECAFA Club Championship due May 15-29 in Rwanda.
The club that Villa beat in the semifinals of the 1991 CAF Club Championships, will together with DR Congo’s TP Mazembe play as guest teams in the regional tournament.
President Paul Kagame and local sponsors in Rwanda have injected US$1m in the event. The money will cater for air tickets for the clubs and cash prizes.
According to the draw released by CECAFA secretary, Nicholas Musonye Ugandan champions URA are pitted against Tanzania’s Simba SC, Sofapaka of Kenya and defending champions Atraco of Rwanda.
Sofapaka is under Ugandan Sam Ssimbwa as head coach. Ssimbwa has vowed to win the regional title for the Kenyan champions.
