THE Vice-president, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, has urged the residents of Kyenjojo district to adapt the Prosperity-for-All programme in order to generate income.

“People can get money through farming the way I am doing. There are enterprises like poultry farming, planting of bananas and dairy farming.

“I get about 20 litres of milk everyday from one of my heifers,” Bukenya said. He gave the advice after visiting Oliver Nyakana, a farmer in Bugaki sub-county, whom he promised 100 layers and a heifer.

Bukenya urged the residents to grow tea because it is a perennial crop. He also visited Mabale Tea Factory.

He appealed to the farmers to keep their money in savings and credit cooperative societies after they have sold their produce.

Bukenya said his visit followed a request by the district LC5 chairperson, James Byamukama, who wanted him to sensitise the people on the Prosperity-for-All programme.

He appealed to the leaders to help farmers get artificial insemination services so as to improve the quality of their animals. The vice-president also visited farmers in the sub-counties of Bugaki, Kyarusozi and the Town council.

Present were MPs Aston Kajara(Mwenge North), Tom Butiime (Mwenge South) and Joyce Kwebiha, the Kyenjojo Woman MP.
