EXPRESS FC kept their Uganda Super League title chase on course by beating Hoima 1-0 yesterday, a day of nightmares for all hosts.

Moses Ndaula gave the Red Eagles the crucial win in the 63rd minute by nodding in Phillip Obwiny’s corner.
The win put David Otti’s side level with Bunamwaya at 52 points. Bunamwaya however leads the 18 team race on better goal difference.

In Masaka, the hosts wound up wondering what had hit them after Maji pulled off a surprise win. Jordan Tamale struck the only goal 30 minutes into the match to give Maji the desperately needed win.

Victors also left Nakivubo a very happy lot after edging Nalubaale 1-0. The losers, fresh from a victory over giants KCC, were humbled by a Henry Kakooza free kick early in the second half.

Nalubaale had more of themselves to blame as Patrick Edema had his penalty saved by veteran goalkeeper Sam Kawalya.

Today, if Ceaser Okhuti is on form, then Bunamwaya shouldn’t have a problem stretching their lead when they host Mbale’s CRO.

Okhuti has been a big force in Bunamwaya’s recent surge to the top. The Cranes striker, who had a poor start to the season due to injury, has lately been in good form with four goals in five matches.

Bunamwaya coach Edward Golola has been further boosted by the return of first choice goalkeeper Hamza Muwonge. Muwonge has been out of action since being injured in a Cranes match in Bujumbura last month.

“The team is not only focused, but also almost at full strength, so a win should be easy,” noted club official Haruna Kyobe.

Golola will however miss the services of his skipper Robert Kimuli who was red carded in the match against Fire Masters.

But Frank “Video” Anyau’s CRO, fighting relegation, are also not a side to be easily run over. When Bunamwaya travelled to Mbale in the first round they were held to a goal-less draw.

KCC will on the same day be travelling to Arua in a match where the Kampala side’s new executive will be struggling to impress. KCC were beaten by Nalubaale in their last outing.

Villa coach Sula Kato, who leads his troops to Iganga today, finds himself in no better situation. Kato was in his last match beaten by URA prompting the Jogoos’ fans to call for his sacking.
