KANUNGU-The District Education Officer (DEO), John Byabagambi, has closed three schools for operating illegally. Byabagambi said apart from poor sanitation and infrastructure, the schools had unqualified teachers. He added that more schools would be closed if they failed to meet the minimum requirements.

District asks for more funds
KIBAALE-The district wants the central government to increase funds for the 11 newly-created sub-counties. “The district needs over sh500m more to run daily activities in the newly-created administrative units,” the chief administrative officer, Dunstan Balaba, said. The sub-counties are Ndaiga, Kyaterekera, Birembo, Nyamarwa, Mpasaana, Ruteete, Kyenzige, Pachwa, Kabamba, Burora and Bubango.
