Lubiri in penalty scare, take on Kitende

ST. Mary’s SS Kitende, Kibuli and Jinja SS marched onto the COPA Coca-Cola second round starting today in different styles. Former champions Kitende beat Iganga 4-0 with Edward Mubiru netting a brace while Eric Sebuguzi and Sadala Ddamba added one each.

ST. Mary’s SS Kitende, Kibuli and Jinja SS marched onto the COPA Coca-Cola second round starting today in different styles. Former champions Kitende beat Iganga 4-0 with Edward Mubiru netting a brace while Eric Sebuguzi and Sadala Ddamba added one each.

But Kibuli, Lubiri and Jinja SS were stretched out till lady luck smiled on them in penalty shoot outs.There were also hard fought victories for Oyam’s Atapara SS, Bulo Parents, Bishop Nankyama of Luwero and Nakaseke as they edged through the first round yesterday.

Five-time champions Kitende who have vowed to dethrone Buddo SS take on Lubiri SS in the second round encounter today (Tuesday).A win for Kitende will pit them in a quarterfinal clash against hard fighting Mehta SS of Lugazi.

The annual tournament is sponsored by Coca Cola. This year’s edition being hosted by St. Henry’s College Kitovu, has attracted 81 teams.
