DEFENDING champions Buddo SS raised their stakes after seeing off Moyo 4-0 in the COPA Coca-Cola Cup second round yesterday.

Segawa Kintu, Ronnie Tumusiime, Fazil Mwinike and Fred Kalanzi struck the crucial goals that put Buddo in a quarterfinal clash against former champions St. Mary’s SS Kitende in a Wakiso derby.

Kitende stopped Lubiri SS through Geoffrey Ssali, Eric Buukya Ssebuguzi and Joshua Kirateh. But Kibuli SS proved great survivors after ejecting Mehta SS.

The Makindye division champions needed only a Joseph Mandela header to book a berth in the quarterfinals today. The result pits Kibuli in a quarterfinal clash against Bulo Parents who edged Nakaseke SS 4-3 on sport kicks.

Mehta who earlier on exhibited a better passing game failed to find their ground on a soggy Masaka Recreation ground.

The highly spirited Kibuli kept their opponents on check with bursts of counter attacks that paid off when Daniel Ojara’s cross that Mandela nodded in the 35th minute.

The Lugazi-based Mehta pressed hard for an equaliser but Kibuli held on for a hard-earned victory. Kibuli also edged Iganga Progressive 4-3 in a nail-biting first round tie.
