SOCCER - Kampala schools have dominated the national post primary schools girls’ tournament in Gulu with all reaching the second round. Kawempe Muslim, Lubiri SS and Old Kampala all qualified for the knock-out stage unbeaten that also saw St. Mary’s SS Kitende qualify despite the 9-0 drubbing by Kawempe. Shamim Nakacwa scored four, Sandra and Scovia Adong two before Esther Kadondi sealed the score in that game.

Academies stage tourney

SOCCER - The youth soccer academies in Kampala and Wakiso have organised their own version of the COPA Coca Cola championship at Nakasero Primary School grounds in Kampala. The event dubbed youth football championship for children between ages of nine and 15 rolls off today with about 150 from over 20 academies. The players are partly drawn from Edgars Youth Programme, Young Express, Super Eagles, Uganda Junior League and Kampala Junior Team.

Ekiring gets hectic schedule

BADMINTON - Uganda's top seed Ekiring is to play in six events in Europe and Africa before the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India in August. His coach Simon Mugabi said: “It will be good for him to gain fitness following an injury from a motor accident last year.”
