AMOLATAR district has requested a stadium be built in recognition of Denis Obua’s contribution to football. “Obua did a lot for sports. Its only fair that such a facility is constructed in his remembrance,” appealed Amolatar LC5 chairman Alfred Adoli Ogwok yesterday, as the soccer legend was laid to rest.

Ogwok was among hundreds of mourners from all over the country who thronged the Lake Kyoga shore village of Akol in Amolatar to see the the former FUFA president through his final journey.

Obua died at Nakivubo stadium, Kampala on Tuesday while attending training of fellow ex-internationals. President Yoweri Museveni offered sh2m cash to the family.

Obua is a past FUFA and CECAFA head and was one of Africa’s best left winger.

Obua’s son David Obua who trades his game at Scottish league side Hearts, did not attend his father’s burial.
