THE Kamuswaga, Apollo Sansa Kabumbuli II, the head of the Kooki chiefdom, has introduced a flag and anthem for the county amid fears that it might break away from Buganda Kingdom.

During a function held at Dwaniro sub-county headquarters, Kooki premier Ananiya Sekyanzi, however, said the county will remain under the Mengo leadership.

“Introducing the flag and anthem does not mean we are breaking away from Buganda kingdom,” he said.

Sekyanzi said the symbols were for identification purposes.

He added that although representatives from the Buganda government, including the Katikkiro, JB Walusimbi, were invited, they did not turn up.

Only officials from the Bunyoro kingdom occupied the VIP seats meant for the Buganda cultural leaders.

Sekyanzi called for co-operation between Rakai district council and the Kamuswaga establishment.

The Kamuswaga, who also celebrated his 6th coronation anniversary at the same function, urged the people of Kooki to work hard and join government efforts to fight poverty and illiteracy.
