How does one do a diploma in education?
My son sat A’level last year and scored six points. That is mathematics (E) economic (O) geography (O) entrepreneurship (O). Does he qualify for a diploma course in a National Teachers College?
One principal pass in A’level is the minimum entry requirement for diploma courses in NTCs, according to Phenny Birungi, the assistant executive director of the national council for higher education. Since your son scored “E†in mathematics, it means he is eligible for a diploma course in an NTC.
However, Birungi says being admissible does not guarantee you a vacancy since it will depend on the number of applicants. So, it is advisable to apply to different NTCs.
I sat A’level in 2008 and scored 7FFOC in history, economics, geography and Kiswahili. I do not want to repeat S.6 and wish to join university. Which course I can do? Is it possible to do education with those points?

The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) requires students to get at least two principal passes in A’level to be eligible for admission to any university degree. Vincent Ekwang, a member of the Public Universities’ Joint Admissions Board, says since you have only one principal pass, you cannot be admitted.
However, Phenny Birungi, the assistant executive director of NCHE, says you should opt for a diploma in NTCs where the minimum entry requirement is one principal pass in A’ level.
After the diploma, you can then apply to join university under the diploma holder’s entry scheme.
