ZAIN has launched the Zap school fees service to ease payments. “Our latest innovation from Zain Zap will go a long way to ease the activity that has in the past been characterised by long banking queues and inconvenience at the beginning of every school term,†said Felix Owilo, the acting marketing director.
He explained that ZAP enables Zain subscribers to use their mobile phones to transfer money, pay their bills, top-up airtime, buy fuel and pay school fees as Zain expands its mobile commerce portfolio in Uganda.
“So far, we have over 350 schools on board. We have stationed Zap agents in several localities irrespective of where a customer stays or works as we push forward with our quest to make school fees banking queues a thing of the past,†he said.
The new offering dubbed the Zap Back to school promotion which will see 300 students win school fees over the course of all four weeks in the multi-million promo.
According to Owilo, an additional sh50m in educational grants from Zain will also be shared among the 20 schools with the highest number of school fees transactions using Zap during the promotion.
