THREE priests in Busoga Diocese were on Sunday installed as canons by Bishop Michael Kyomya at Christ’s Cathedral in Bugembe, Jinja district. They are the diocesan secretary, the Rev. Samuel Egesa, the Rev. Paul Naimanhye, the sub-dean of Christ’s Cathedral, and the Rev. John Tilusoniwa, the vicar of St. Andrew’s Church.

Kyomya handed over canonical books and the constitution of the Anglican Church to the canons, urging them to follow the laws as they carry out pastoral service. He prayed for the canons to be bold and strong and appealed to them to always trust in God, saying it was only by His Grace that they would carry on the ministry.

Kyomya hailed the Christians for the love they expressed towards the clergy and the entire diocese. The Bugembe Cathedral dean emeritus, the Rev. Can. Daniel Kiiza, urged the canons to be exemplary.

“Canons must be a living testimony of Jesus Christ to the flock. Be faithful and do your work with humility and make the church relevant to the people of God.”
