EDITOR—I agree with the St Mary Kitende Secondary School parent who wrote complaining about the sh50,000 the school charged students for the “10-year celebrationsâ€.

I too returned my son to school that very day and despite the inconveniences that we endured, we were almost bounced back for failing to pay the sh50,000 yet we had a fully paid-up bank slip!
It is so annoying that Kitende has become a lucrative business centre with parents taking specific types of reams of paper every term, paying for new textbooks which their children never see again while the boys’ dormitories are packed like sardines!
I now know why the school director is always pretending to be seen in public as the one who gives scholarships to children of fallen heroes! The Ministry of Education should come to our rescue.
