KING’S College Budo old boys have donated nine table tennis tables to the school, writes James Bakama.

The final batch of four tables from the 1987-1993 class was delivered at the school Monday at a function also attended by table tennis body UTTA president Dennis Galabuzi.

“Other Budonians should step out and also make similar offers,” challenged Kabiito Karamagi, one of the school’s former students who made the donation.
Galabuzi promised to avail a coach, bats and another table for members of staff.

“UTTA are going back to the grassroot. Budo will be one of our starting areas in talent identification,” he told students and staff at an evening assembly.

Galabuzi told the students that besides nurturing their talent to table tennis stardom, the sport also provides numerous opportunities from the International Olympic Committee and ITTF.

Headteacher Patrick Bakka-Male promised to make maximum use of the equipment by not only starting an inter-house competition, but also a league.

“Good equipment is very inspiring. Let’s look after them very well as a way of thanking the old boys.”

He said the best way to benefit from the tables was by excelling in the sport. “Let’s not write on the tables that ‘never forget Amooti.’ It should be your game deeds to do the talking.”

Male played an exhibition game with Galabuzi before the students also tried out the tables.
