What subjects do I need to do architecture?
I am in S.6. What are the subjects necessary for admission to the Bachelor of Architecture degree programme?
Ellen

According to guidelines set by the Public Universities Joint Admissions Board (PUJAB), Bachelor of Architecture at Makerere University is weighed by multiplying mathematics and either fine art or technical drawing by three. Other subjects considered are any better done subject that includes history, economics and physics, which are the relevant subjects that are multiplied by two.

I scored D in mathematics, D in economics, O in physics, and C in fine Art. Can I do architecture with this grade?
Peter

You need two principal passes in mathematics, fine art/technical drawing as the minimum entry requirement. Economics is a relevant subject.
Since you passed these subjects, you can do architecture.

I do biology, chemistry, mathematics and fine art (BCM/Art). The combination is said to be limiting. Can mathematics and art qualify me to do architecture or anything else if I fail biology or chemistry?
NL

The best thing you should do while in school is to work hard and prepare to pass, not fail. However, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, the dean of Makerere University’s faculty of technology, says guidelines of the Public Universities Joint Admissions Board show that mathematics and fine art/technical drawing are the essential subjects for admission to the bachelor of architecture. And since two principal passes is the minimum entry requirement, you could be admitted. But it may be difficult to raise the cut-off points to outcompete hundreds of other applicants if you pass only two subjects.
