“Choir music is old fashioned. It makes you doze,” is not uncommon comment. Well, the Catholic Centenary Memorial Choir (CACEMCHO), the choir that opens the 10:00am mass at Christ the King church in Kampala, seems to be defying the odds with their ever-green hymnal music. Many believers attend this mass to enjoy their beautiful timeless hymns.

The choir has recorded a 10-track album titled Azuukidde Allellua (He has risen from the dead). It is a joy to listen to it, with such songs as the exhilarating But Thou Didst and local compositions like Parapanda,’

CACEMCHO was formed in 1978 by late Cardinal Emmanuel Nsubuga, to lead the faithful in celebrating one hundred years of the Catholic faith in Uganda.

The choir has since led believers in the celebration of different national Christian occasions, notably the celebration of the Uganda Martyrs, every year.
