Ken’s safari bag
Former Lubaga South MP Ken Lukyamuzi is a self- claimed environmentalist. last week, he amused MPs when they saw where he had packed his clothes. Lukyamuzi was one of the participants attending a two- day parliamentary symposium on oil at Imperial Resort Beach Entebbe. When the time for checking out came, the MPs were shocked to see a man who cares so much for environment carrying a green kaveera as his bag. One MP wondered how a former MP could carry a polythene bag to a four-star hotel as if he couldn’t afford a small bag from Owino.

Kazibwe’s secret
Those who have been wondering why former vice-president Specioza Wandira Kazibwe still looks young even after she resigned her juicy job, wonder no more! Meeting female MPs at Parliament recently, Kazibwe let the cat out of the bag. She wakes up very early every morning and goes to her banana plantation for gym sessions, before embarking on the day’s work. She said: “Every day, I go to my banana plantation at home for gym and that is why I am still mboko,” she said. Someone wondered aloud why she had installed the gym equipment in a banana plantation.

Poor Opio
The recent publication of sleeping ministers in Parliament by a local newspaper does not seem to have cured them of the habit. Some have continued enjoying a nap every now and then. The latest culprit was gender, labour and social development minister Gabriel Opio. When someone wrote to him a chit during a debate in Parliament, the messenger found him asleep and feared to wake him up until his colleague, Isaac Musumba, shook him up and delivered the chit. Poor Opio felt hot around the ears as he found everybody staring at him.

Ogwal’s dress
Meeting women activists on Thursday at State House Entebbe, President Yoweri Museveni kept referring to Dokolo MP Cecilia Ogwal. When the chairperson of the Uganda Women Parliamentary Association introduced opposition female MPs, the President was very happy and with tongue in cheek said: “Cecelia Ogwal is dressed very well.” Everybody, including Ogwal, burst out laughing because she was wearing a yellowish African attire.
