SVEN and Noame Karekaho will meet the kidnappers and killers of their son, Khan Kakama, this week.

Sven Karekaho, in a brief interview at his home in Kagunga Nyakagyeme Rukungiri yesterday, said they secured security clearance to meet the suspected killers.

“Police said we can meet them at our convenience next week,” Karekaho said.

The parents, who travelled to Rukungiri last week to bury their 16-month-old son, are expected to return to Kampala tomorrow.

Godwin Tumusiime, one of the suspects who reportedly confessed to killing Kakama, led the Police to the swamp in Kamwokya where the body was recovered last Monday.

Others held at the Rapid Response Unit headquarters in Kireka are Brian Ssajjabi and Molly Nabasa, the housemaid, who gave the child to the suspected killer on June 8 in Bugolobi.

Tumusiime, who demanded a sh30m ransom for the child, hails from Bushenyi. After he picked the money at a bridge in Kyamuhunga in Bushenyi, he reportedly bought land and a motorbike. This raised suspicion, leading to his arrest.

The mother yesterday said she did not know any of the male suspects. “I used to talk to them on phone but I don’t know any of them apart from seeing their pictures in newspapers.”

The mother has not talked to Nabasa since she was arrested. “Nabasa loved children but had other personal weakness,” she said.

During funeral service in Kampala, Naome implored Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura to allow her meet the suspects who murdered her son.

Just like her husband, Naome said she had forgiven those responsible for killing her son.
