AFTER a year-long maternity break, 2008 Kenya Ladies Open champion Flavia Namakula’s form is suspect but the hosts should not celebrate yet.

Namakula will make the trip to Nairobi today together with Jasper Kamukama who beat celebrated Kenyan golfer Mary Karano in a playoff to win the Uganda Open last year.

Namakula admitted she was not at her best but still competitive.

“I will endeavour to be in time for a practice round on Friday as I warm up for the tournament. I trained for over three months so I am not off-form,” Namakula said.

The 54-holes tournament tees off on Saturday at Windsor Golf and Country Club.

Ugandans Eva Okatch, Irene Nakalembe, Monica Ntege, Evelyn Asiimwe, Jenina Nasimolo and Uganda Ladies Golf Union president Rose Musoke will also contest for Kenya Open title.

The event expected to attract over 200 women from hosts Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania will see competitors play 36 holes on Saturday and wind up with 18 on Sunday.
