House Speaker backs new sub-county

THE Speaker of Parliament, Edward Ssekandi, has backed the creation of Kyesiga sub-county from Kyanamukaka sub-county in Bukoto Central constituency.
THE Speaker of Parliament, Edward Ssekandi, has backed the creation of Kyesiga sub-county from Kyanamukaka sub-county in Bukoto Central constituency.
“Kyanamukaka is one of the biggest sub-counties in Buganda region and the idea to create another sub-county from Kyanamukaka has no harm,†he told residents of Kyanamukaka recently.
Kyesiga area comprises of four parishes which include Bbuliro, Kitunga, Kyesiga and Bugere.  The Creation of Kyesiga sub-county will affect the revenue base for Kyanamukaka since Dimo Landing Site the major revenue source for Kyanamukaka will be allocated to the Kyesiga side.
The Kyanamukaka sub-county LC 3 Chairperson, Paul Migadde said that had not yet received official communication regarding the creation of Kyesiga sub-county.
The Masaka District Councilor representing Kyanamukaka, John Bukenya said that the district council unanimously endorsed the motion to create Kyesiga sub-county.
