THE National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) programme has supported youth and women farmers in Kawempe and Lubaga divisions with 15,000 broiler chicks.

“For each broiler chick, a farmer will be given 5 kilos of feeds,” said Aggrey Kyobuguzi, the in-charge of livestock and peri-urban farming at the NAADS secretariat.

He said the programme, titled, “NAADS intervention in promoting peri-urban farming among youth and women in Kampala” will cost sh200m.

Aggrey Bagiire, the agriculture state minister, who handed over the chicks and feeds urged the youth to take on agriculture, especially poultry keeping, as a serious enterprise. He told the group how he used to earn about sh5m per month from his poultry farm due to hard work.
