THE Vice-President, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, has asked the people of Mawogola county in Ssembabule district to retain Sam Kutesa in next year’s general elections.

“I have worked with Kutesa for the last 11 years and found him to be non- sectarian and generous. It is dangerous to our nation if people are segregated along religious or tribal lines,” he said.

Bukenya was speaking during celebrations to mark Masaka Diocese youth day at Lwebitakuli parish in Mawogola, Ssembabule on Sunday.

He told the residents that they were lucky to have Kutesa as their MP and should use him to lobby for developmental programmes. Bukenya donated sh4.5m to the diocesan youth projects.

He noted that Ssembabule politics has been tainted by leaders who abuse others. “We need peace in Ssembabule so you must stop practising cheap politics,” he said.

Bukenya warned the residents against vocal politicians who are not pro-development and urged them to support President Yoweri Museveni.
