SEVENTEEN students of St. Leo’s College Kyegobe in Kabarole district have been expelled due to indiscipline. They were part of 25 others who were recently arrested in connection with a strike that took place in June.

On June 6, the students went on strike protesting poor leadership and administration. The strike left a vehicle belonging to the director of studies burnt to ashes, his banana plantation and house property destroyed.

Ivan Otigo, the head teacher, told The New Vision that the OBs held a meeting at the school on Saturday and resolved to expel the students.

He encouraged the students to remain disciplined and to focus on their studies.
Paul Kasande, the board chairman, said the school management had rules and regulations which are used to punish indisciplined students.

Steven Kagwera, the MP for Burahya county in Kabarole district, who is also the president of the OBs association, urged the parents to instill good morals in their children to minimise indiscipline cases.
