Chameleone, Vamposs scuffle

Singers Joseph Mayanja a.k.a Dr. Jose Chameleone and Elvis Kirya a.k.a Vamposs of Swagz Avenue clashed outside Club Silk recently. Nickson Turyahikayo talked to Chameleone, Vamposs and Rabadaba, an eyewitness, to get to the bottom of the melee

What happened between you and Chameleone?
Man, Chameleone with Leon Island Crew beat me at Club Silk.

Why did they beat you like this?
I don’t know. Maybe Chameleone had a plan to kill me.

Have you been having misunderstandings?
I have never had any conflict with Chameleone. I regarded him a friend and I don’t know why he did this to me.

What caused the fight?
I was with Rabadaba and we found Chameleone and Leone Island Crew outside Silk.
Rabadaba went to greet Chameleone but I did not.

Suddenly, some guys came and asked me why I had not bowed before their man Dr. Chameleone? I replied that I only bow before God.
“Why do you then bow for Goodlyfe?” they asked me.

As they were asking more questions, I called Chameleone and asked him: “These guys are telling me to bow before you. Since when did you become God?”

That is when he pushed me and all his crew members started beating me.

Did he apologise?
No, he did not.


What do you say about Vamposs’ alleagations?

Vamposs is my friend of over 15 years. He is a guy with whom we can even share everything apart from wives.

Is it true that you and your crew beat him when he refused to bow before you at Club Silk?

It is true we beat him, but that is a small thing that can’t break up our friendship.

Is it because he refused to ‘worship’ you? It is not like that. Why should I force anyone to honour me?

Then why did you beat him?
I was chatting with Rabadaba, telling him how I performed for the Rwandan president.

We then saw Vamposs in a scuffle with my Leone guys. I had to intervene and that is how the fight started.

Why haven’t you gone to see him and apologise?
I want to go there but I am waiting for him to first cool down. I am sorry for what happened.

Any message for him?
Vamposs should remember we are from one family.

As musicians, we should always solve our conflicts together but not run to the Police and press which tarnishes our image.

What do you tell his fans and your fans?
I did not intend to beat Vamposs but I was not sober.

Fans should know that we are human and make mistakes.

You were at the scene; tell us how it all started?

I was talking to Chameleone then suddenly we saw Vamposs in a scuffle.

Vamposs said: “Chameleone, your guys are saying that I should bow before you.

I don’t know why I should bow before you; are you God? I only bow before God.”

Chameleone immediately got physical with him. Thereafter, the whole group started beating him up.
