OVER 45 children from Kampala schools with an international curriculum and others from abroad have completed a two-week training on culture and moral development code named Ekisaakate (royal enclosure).

The first Ekisaakate was held in 2007 at St. Agnes Boarding School, Naggalama, in Mukono and the second in Mbogo Mixed School, Kawempe.

During the closure of the training at Vienna College Namugongo last week, Buganda kingdom minister Appolonia Mugumbya said apart from lessons on the buganda culture, the participants also had sessions on economic development, personality and sexuality.

Mugumbya added that the sessions had instilled discipline in many children, both baganda and non-baganda.

As the children prepared to leave, Katrina Nsomere, 9, Sonia Nalubega, 7, Hassan Makanga and Cynthia Natume said: “We have learnt a lot from the Ekisaakaate. Some of our friends did not know how to greet in vernacular, but now they do.”

Angella Luggya said before the camp, she did not know how to peel matooke and barely knew what went on in the kitchen.

Nsomere and Nalubega said before the camp, they thought chores could only be done by house-helps.
