IT is a week today since the maiden issue of Harvest Money. It has been a busy week, with farmers from all over the country getting in touch with comments, queries and advice on how to make Harvest Money more relevant. We appreciate the feedback and promise to do everything within our means to live up to your expectations.

In response to your feedback, Harvest Money will soon introduce a section where farmers and agro-input dealers can market their products and services at a token fee.

Animal breeders, feed mill operators, agro-machinery dealers, plant nursery owners, those looking for farm land to buy and those selling off theirs, you are all encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.

In this issue, we meet a prison warder who is heading a bamboo multiplication project in Luzira Prison. From him we get to know the different attributes of bamboo, known as the poor man’s timber.

For livestock farmers, our farm doctor emphasises the importance of keeping our animals free of disease and pests that negatively affect their performance and your income.
From the market place, we update you on the prices of crops in different parts of the country.

And lastly, for you, backyard farmer, have you considered starting a plant nursery in your backyard? It is worth it. We show you how. Enjoy your free copy of Harvest Money.
